I’m a fan of the Vesuvius side tables for their slim metal frames and removable tray tops, which make them as practical as they are stylish. Their black finish and subtle marble-effect inset work equally well in contemporary, industrial or mid-century schemes, slotting neatly beside a sofa or armchair. To style, stagger the heights and top with a small stack of books, a ceramic vase and a scented candle - the trays lift off easily so you can move drinks or snacks straight to your lap.
