The Vanity collection is a contemporary evocation of the 18th-century dressing table mirror. Danish studio Gam Fratesi elegantly reinterprets this almost forgotten type of mirror and ingeniously reinvents it for contemporary interiors. The hinges are a main feature of this type of swivel mirror. The collection includes three variants: with one, two or three panels that can be rotated, thus changing the appearance and light of the piece, as desired. The brass cylindrical hinges pair beautifully with the warmth of the hand-crafted walnut veneer used on the panels. In addition to incorporating fixings for wall mounting, the hinges let the user adjust the angle of the mirror, influencing the perspective it offers and the play of light in the room. Mirrors with multiple panels are perfect for looking at yourself from the front and in profile. In the two- and three-panel version, the hinged flaps fold flat on top of each other, aesthetically “closing” the mirror when not in use. Custom-created for the Vanity Mirror collection, the hinges require the highest degree of precision to achieve the necessary tolerances (just a tenth of a millimetre) and ensure satisfying, fluid yet controlled movement. On the 1-panel mirror, the hinges allow 15 degrees of rotation. On two- and three-panel mirrors, hinges with 180-degree rotation allow the flaps to fold flat on top of each other, revealing walnut panels when the mirror is not in use. Vanity embodies Gam Fratesi studio's unerring ability to bring the highest levels of craftsmanship and technical precision to even the seemingly simplest of forms. The Vanity 1 wall mirror consists of a single panel with 15° rotation. It’s designed to be used in all rooms of the house apart from the bathroom. Its contemporary, elegant design interacts with any space.
