Description
For Belgian artist Marie Michielssen, designing a piece of furniture always begins with a series of sketches on paper. With mathematical precision, she constructs the volumes. The proportions must be perfect and adapted to the human body. For the Valérie lounge chair, she started with an elliptical base to which she added two rectangular surfaces, a seat and backrest whose perfectly inclined angle lets you sit comfortably. For the material, Marie Michielssen chose lacquered steel so that the Valérie armchair can be used both outdoors and in. She also likes steel because it’s an honest material, a little rough and industrial. The cushion is not included: it’s sold separately. The optional cushion adds extra comfort. The fabric is hand-woven and made in Belgium, and was chosen by Marie for its tactile impact.
