Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of this narrow industrial bookcase for its clean lines and honest materials - light reclaimed timber shelves set in a black metal frame give it a timeless, adaptable look. It works equally well in a pared-back Scandinavian living room, an urban loft study or even a cosy country-style hallway where you need extra display space without bulk. For styling, alternate books with decorative objects to avoid a cluttered feel: try stacking a few hardbacks flat, add a small potted fern or fiddle-leaf fig on the middle shelf, and tuck woven baskets on the bottom tier for magazines or throws. Keeping some open space between items will let each piece stand out and highlight the shelf’s industrial simplicity.

About The Range

Founded in 1989, The Range is the fastest growing retailer in the UK with an extensive selection to cater to a variety of styles and budgets. The Range provides affordable and quality products to enhance your living space.

Humble Beginnings

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.

Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.

A Visionary Leader

Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.

Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.

More Than Just Stores

You can find The Range in many places, mostly outside town centres, but also in shopping areas. Some stores have a coffee shop called "Dee Dee's", and others even have a food section from Iceland. And if you like online shopping, The Range has got you covered there too with a big online store.
