Description
This cushion is covered with a thick quilted cover on which is embroidered the poppy flower from the iconic Unikko print (the inner pillow is included). Maija Isola's Unikko flower motif is the emblem of the Marimekko design house. It was designed in 1964, just after the founder of the Marimekko brand, Armi Ratia, publicly announced that she was banning floral motifs, which were considered hackneyed. Maija Isola defied her by drawing a series of floral designs whose style was so innovative and fresh that Armi changed her mind. Ironically, the Unikko motif has become the emblem of the brand. Cheerful, chic and graphic, the collection of Marimekko cushion covers brightens up your interior! Their original patterns blend together wonderfully. Created in 1951, Marimekko is a state of mind, a way of life based on creativity, freedom of spirit and inventiveness. Its notoriety dates back to 1960, the year in which Jackie Kennedy made several public appearances in dresses designed by Marimekko. The brand went on to enjoy enormous success, which continues today with a range of clothing and decorative accessories in vibrant colours, for a house full of inspiration!.
