Description

Cool, neat and oh-so retro, the Twyford Chair With Arms inspires nostalgic notions of the past through a minimalist design and stunning neo-vintage style. Whether you aim to blend this beauty into a vibrant, eclectic décor or are searching for an eye-catching number to spice up your dining arrangement, the Twyford’s simple, open look is a fantastic choice. Crafted from raw metal and charming leather, the Twyford includes a cosy padded seat and back, and stylish wooden arms for a touch of much needed comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this leather armchair for its combination of vintage-inspired design and contemporary practicality. It works well in both minimalist and eclectic interiors, adding a touch of refined character without overpowering the space. Its neutral leather finish makes it versatile, so it pairs effortlessly with wood, metal, or even bold coloured dining tables. For styling tips, consider layering with textured textiles like woven placemats or wool throws to soften the look, and keep the surrounding decor simple to let the chair stand out. It’s perfect in a casual dining area or as an occasional extra seat in a relaxed home office setting.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
