I’m a fan of this tufted grey bench because its neutral upholstery and classic wooden legs slip effortlessly into a range of schemes - from modern farmhouse to contemporary Scandi. In a hallway it doubles as a handy spot for shoes and bags, while at the foot of the bed it adds a touch of tailored comfort without overwhelming the room.
To style it, layer a soft wool throw or a couple of textured cushions in contrasting tones (deep navy or mustard work well) and position a low stack of books or a decorative tray at one end. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
