Description

Celebrating the natural beauty of oak, Slab is constructed in angular forms of inviting simplicity. Each piece has generous proportions, solid materiality and is softened with a gentle radius edge. Slab is made from solid oak, sourced from sustainably managed forests. The surface of the wood is deeply brushed to expose its natural grain. Slab tables come in different shapes and sizes.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Slab table by Tom Dixon for its clean, sculptural quality and warm oak finish - it feels both modern and approachable. At 0.9 metres it’s ideal for a cosy breakfast nook or as a compact dining solution in a small flat, and it works equally well in Scandi-inspired schemes or more contemporary open-plan spaces. Styling tips: keep centre decor minimal - a simple vase or a low bowl of fruit highlights the table’s shape, and pair it with slim-profile chairs in contrasting tones (think black metal or muted upholstery). Its neutral oak lets you layer in textured linens or a subtle woven runner without clashing.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
