Description

Slab Desk is part of a series of robust pieces constructed in angular forms of inviting simplicity. Made in Lithuania using solid wood Oak construction, this individual desk is celebrating the natural beauty of Fumed Oak. The surface is deeply brushed to expose the natural grain. Inspired by the archetypical Victorian school desk, this contemporary work station is equally comfortable as a hotel room desk or a dressing table.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Slab desk for its clean, sculptural profile and warm fumed-oak finish. Its simple A-frame legs and slim top slot it neatly into minimalist, mid-century or Scandi-inspired schemes, while the compact footprint makes it ideal for a snug home office or as a writing nook in a living room. Styling-wise, keep the surface uncluttered: pair it with a matte-black task lamp, a neat stack of notebooks and a small ceramic pot holding a trailing plant. Tuck cables through the desk’s integrated grommet to maintain that pared-back look, and team it with a slim upholstered chair in a neutral wool or leather for a refined yet functional setup.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
