Description

A set of chunky, waney edge oak or birch components gives the owner the satisfaction of constructing their own stool or table by hammering the joins together with wooden dowels to make a solid long lasting piece of furniture. Offcut challenges the perception of flat-pack as cheap and disposable. A simple classic to go and be used anywhere. The tall stool features an aluminium footplate, to protect the wood from scuffing. Made from solid wood. The natural version is made from soaped oak, and the fluoro, black and grey versions are made from painted birch.

Our Stylist Says

I love this stool for its minimalist yet crafted aesthetic-it’s a versatile piece that works well in both contemporary and industrial interiors. The offcut stool's clean grey finish makes it easy to pair with different colour palettes and textures, from raw wood to smooth metals. Practical styling tips include using it as a versatile extra seat in living rooms, a side table in bedrooms, or even at a bar area. Its straightforward design also allows it to blend seamlessly into a variety of settings without overwhelming the space. For visual interest, consider pairing it with other geometric or sculptural pieces to highlight its simple elegance.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
