Part of Tom Dixon's celebrated Melt range, the distorted design of this striking pendant creates the effect of melting hot blown glass. This ceiling light is equipped with an integrated LED which emits an ambient and mild glow of light. It's translucent when switched on and has a mirror-finish when switched off. More about the design Designed in collaboration with Swedish radical design collective, FRONT, this range explores the technologically advanced field of vacuum metallisation. Light bounces off and reflects around the pendant's uneven surface to create a dramatic melting effect. Its internal luminosity is visible in full daylight. Worth knowing To create a more innovative look, this light has been designed to incorporate the LEDs within it. This LED is not replaceable but has an impressive lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. LEDs use around 85% less energy than incandescent bulbs.
I love the Melt pendant for its bold, sculptural presence and the way it combines contemporary design with a touch of warmth. It works especially well in modern or industrial-style interiors, where its reflective, molten finish adds drama and texture without overwhelming. Practical tips include hanging it over dining tables or in living areas as a statement piece or grouping several at different heights for a dynamic focal point. Keep surrounding decor minimal to let the fixture shine, and consider pairing it with warm-toned bulbs to enhance its rich, amber glow. This pendant is versatile enough to bring a luxury feel to both a polished urban apartment and a more eclectic, creative space.
