Description

Globe is a large translucent ceiling light with a minimal matte black ceiling rose. Made using a high tech manufacturing technique in Germany and designed using our own recipe of opalescent polycarbonate, which results in a satisfyingly ethereal orb. Coupled with our new Tom Dixon LED, the shatter proof Globe pendant emits a soft, diffused and flattering light.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the opalescent globe pendant for its clean, understated silhouette and soft, diffused glow - it makes a practical focal point without overwhelming a space. It sits equally well over a kitchen island in a contemporary loft or above a dining table in a pared-back Scandinavian interior. To style it, hang a single around eye-level above a small breakfast nook, or cluster three at varying heights over a long table. Pair with muted tones and natural materials - think pale timber, concrete surfaces or marble countertops - and add a few brass or black-iron accents to pick up on the pendant’s metal detailing.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
