Description

You can probably tell that we are obsessed with spherical objects. In our perpetual quest for the purest forms, Globe stands out as the most minimal of the lot. A spherical orb, highly mirrored and perfectly reflective during the day, when switched on reveals a multiplicity of internal reflections from the integral LED. Reminiscent of ancient witch balls, hollowed spheres of coloured glass which were used to ward off evil spirits,

Our Stylist Says

I really like this floor light’s modern, sculptural appeal-its globe shape adds a sleek, graphic element to any space. It works particularly well in contemporary or minimalist interiors, where its reflective surface can help bounce light and open up the room. For styling, consider placing it in a corner or near a seating area to create a cosy, ambient glow, avoiding clutter around it so its bold design can stand out. It also pairs nicely with metallic accents or neutral palettes, making it versatile enough for both residential and commercial settings. A practical tip is to use it alongside softer lighting to balance its reflective surface and avoid overwhelming the space with brightness.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
