In 2021, during a prolonged work-from-home period, Tom took home his boring, generic-looking black office chair and quickly discovered that it wasn’t comfortable and really didn’t match his home’s aesthetic. This experience led him to create. FAT WORK. , the ultimate office chair - combining style, comfort, and functionality. FAT WORK is also the first time we’ve added wheels to our furniture, bringing a new dynamic to traditionally static pieces. Ideal for conference rooms, breakout spaces, home offices, and modern dining areas. Simple up-and-down gas-lift mechanism that meets industry standards, ensuring optimal ergonomic support. About Tom Dixon
From Bass Guitar to Design Guru
Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.
By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.
But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.
Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.
His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.
