Description

Beat is a brass floor light featuring a slender articulated arm that can be adjusted to direct the light beam. Made from hand spun brass sculpted by artisan craftsmen in Northern India, the creation of this Beat light is part of an ancient process that takes four days to complete. This contemporary floor lamp has a warm, golden beaten interior that is re-purposed to refract and reflect a soft and warm luminosity.

Our Stylist Says

I love this floor light for its sculptural quality and striking presence, making it an instant focal point in any space. It works particularly well in contemporary or minimalist interiors, where its bold shape can stand out without competing with other design elements. For styling, consider pairing it with softer textures and neutral palettes to highlight its metallic finish, or place it in a corner where its form can be appreciated both functionally and aesthetically. Practical tips include positioning it in living rooms or reading nooks for ambient illumination, and keeping surrounding décor simple to let the lamp be a statement piece. It’s a versatile addition that mixes industrial edge with modern elegance.

About Tom Dixon

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British luxury design brand offering contemporary lighting, furniture, and accessories. Their innovative designs are perfect for those looking to make a unique, modern statement in their home.

From Bass Guitar to Design Guru

Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.

By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.

But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.

Master of Materials

Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.

Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.

His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.

More Than Just Products

Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.

From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
