Description

Design. Utterly unique and a super easy way to spice up your living space, the Shabby features a bold, armless design that is equally matched by daring pops of rich blue and blush pink. Plenty of room for family, friends or to make the most of sprawling out, the Shabby includes gorgeous comfy interiors - blending foam and fibre cushioning that works alongside its slouchy shaping and deep seat to provide instant relaxation. Adhering to both modern and traditional design, the Shabby is upholstered in luxurious velvet for a vintage edge, whilst its sleek shape and paisley motif with a modern twist add an edge that is decidedly contemporary.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sofa’s eclectic, vintage-inspired vibe-it’s perfect for adding character to a variety of interiors. Its faded, melting paisley fabric works particularly well in boho, industrial, or artful eclectic spaces, where its worn-in charm can be celebrated rather than hidden. To style it, pair with layered textures like chunky rugs, distressed wood, or woven accessories to enhance its relaxed, lived-in feel. Keep the surrounding palette neutral or tonal to let the fabric pattern be the focal point, and consider adding bold cushions or throws for colour without overpowering its vintage appeal. It’s a statement piece that’s not only practical for lounging but also sparks conversation, making it ideal for creating a cosy yet stylish environment.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
