Description

The Rod floor lamp is a modern day interpretation of Venetian Murano brass and glass library lights from the 1940s. Softly illuminated from within, this unique design creates a mellow ambience, perfect for relaxing or entertaining guests. The glass rod structure is inspired by the colonnades of Stowe School, which made a huge impression on Tim during a visit for an away game in his school days. The dazzling opulence of the glass is daringly contrasted with our natural raw iron finish, bearing the marks of the welder's torch for a modern, industrial take on elegance.

Our Stylist Says

The Timothy Oulton rod tall floor lamp is a striking piece that seamlessly blends Art Deco glamour with modern sophistication. I love how its gold finish adds warmth and a touch of luxe to an interior, making it versatile for both contemporary and vintage-inspired spaces. It works particularly well in living rooms or corner setups where you want to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. For styling, try pairing it with rich textures like velvet or leather and keep surrounding decor minimal to let the lamp be the statement piece. Its vertical design also makes it ideal for narrower spaces or alongside tall bookshelves, giving height and visual interest without overpowering the room.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
