Description

His dads army background has a lot to do with Tims passion for drums, which along with a legend dating back to the Crimean War, directly inspired this regimental range. Legend has it, a drummer boy who served with the British Armys 77th Regiment of Foot caught his counterpart, a Russian boy trumpeter, gave him a good hiding and captured his instrument. No one knows his name, but our drums look like his would have looked. Every drum is handcrafted with traditional methods and authentic materials including vellum, hand-painted solid wood and leather.

Our Stylist Says

I love this drum side table for its bold, sculptural qualities and the unique oxidised brass finish that adds an industrial yet vintage vibe. It works particularly well in eclectic or eclectic-modern interiors, where statement pieces are key. You can style it as a standalone accent or pair it with leather, wood, or textured textiles to enhance its rugged charm. Practical tips include using it as a side table in a living room or a side accent in a bedroom-its sturdy shape makes it versatile, and it offers handy surface space for lighting, books, or decorative objects. To keep it looking its best, avoid overly humid environments as the oxidised finish benefits from an occasional gentle clean.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
