Description

With its edgiest look to date, the classic Mimi dining chair goes punk in studded leather. The seat and front is clad in Safari Black, a truly rugged leather with a natural, lived-in patina and a dry texture, almost like suede, complemented by black chair legs. Brass-studded Safari leather covers the back of the chair, with piped detailing around the edge for a more tailored feel. With a flared back and generously padded seat for comfort, Mimi Stud merges classic styling with an audaciously modern take on glamour.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Mimi chair for its clean lines and durable black leather upholstery - it feels both comfortable and pulled-together without fuss. The slightly curved back and subtle pin-detail on the sapelle stained legs give it a timeless look that works equally well in a sleek modern kitchen or a more traditional dining room. For styling, mix it with a warm oak or marble-topped table to break up the dark tone, then layer in brass or matte-black lighting to echo the chair’s finish. If you want a softer touch, add a slim seat pad or a cashmere cushion in a muted colour - it’ll bring in texture without detracting from the chair’s streamlined silhouette.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
