Description

Design. There’s no comfort quite like the Shabby. Featuring soft foam and fibre fillings, the sectional 1 seater sofa offers a luxurious seating experience that can’t be beaten. Its slouchy shape lends itself to lazy lounging, whilst giving a relaxed look that sits well within urban and industrial interiors. Detailed with stylish linear stitching, the sofa’s black leather upholstery is hand finished for an incredibly distinctive feel. Create a sectional sofa to suit your space, or use the Shabby 1 seater as a standalone seat.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the leather shabby sectioned armchair because it offers a relaxed, lived-in vibe that works well in both contemporary and eclectic interiors. Its distressed leather gives it a characterful, vintage feel, making it ideal for adding personality to a cosy lounge or a creative space. For styling, it pairs beautifully with industrial accessories, rustic wood, or soft textiles such as throws and cushions to soften the look. To keep it looking its best, consider placing it in environments with moderate climate control to prevent further ageing of the leather. It’s perfect as a statement piece in a casual seating arrangement, offering both comfort and visual interest with its unique, worn-in finish.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
