Description

Design. Commanding the space with its charm and beauty, the Timothy Oulton. Icebeam. Coffee Table will be certain to leave a mark with whoever is lucky enough to experience it. Crafted from timber that is around 100 years old, salvaged from old English buildings, it’s cracks and grains remind us of its heroic former life. The ice-like glass beams aredetailed with subtle rippled texture adding visual depth contrasting beautifully with the rustic base.

Our Stylist Says

This Icebeam coffee table is a real statement piece thanks to its neutral glass top and solid wooden base, making it versatile for a variety of interiors. I love its contemporary feel, which works particularly well in modern or minimalist spaces, but it can also add an unexpected touch of luxury to more rustic or eclectic settings. When styling, keep accessories simple-think monochrome vases or textured books to let the materials shine. Its low-profile design makes it a perfect anchor for a seating area, and I’d recommend pairing it with neutral-toned fabrics to enhance its sleek look, while the wooden base adds warmth to balance colder colour palettes. Practical tip: the clear glass top makes it easy to incorporate colourful or decorative items underneath, adding a personalised touch.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
