Description
Made using old wood up to a century-old, salvaged from the structural beams and pillar joists of buildings across the UK. The arduous process of reclamation starts at a demolition site, where precious sections are recovered. The timbers are sorted and de-nailed by hand, all the while preserving the natural surface, revived to once again support new lifestyles.

I’m a big fan of this chunky beam console for its honest, reclaimed-oak look - it brings warmth and texture without shouting for attention. Its clean lines and neutral tone make it a great fit for both industrial-style lofts and relaxed Scandi schemes, and it’s robust enough to work in a busy hallway or behind a sofa. Styling tip: keep the surface uncluttered with a couple of low vases or a shallow tray for keys and post. A slim runner underneath can soften its edges, while a statement mirror or one large piece of art hung above will balance the console’s weight.

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.
