Price History

Description

This stunning coffee table is part of the Black Hawk collection of chests, tables and bookcases is an industrial-style range inspired by military aircraft. The spitfire finish takes its cue from the historic Spitfire jet fighter of World War II - it echoes the plane's multi-riveted construction of interlocking aluminium panels, and is finished through a five-stage process that creates an impression of worn, distressed metal. The curved edges and unique drawer handles, on the other hand, are reminiscent of the curved, rounded lines of the famous Black Hawk helicopter.

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because of its bold industrial aesthetic, combining rugged wood and metal with a contemporary design. It works particularly well in loft-style or urban interiors, but can also add an unexpected edge to more pared-back or minimalist schemes. The size offers ample surface space for styling layered accessories like books, candles, or trays, which can soften its metallic feel. To keep it versatile, try pairing it with natural textures like linen or wool in seating, and add warm tones through textiles or accessories to balance the cool metal finish. It’s a statement piece that grounds a room while offering functional storage and visual interest.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
