Description

An original painting created using oil and crayon on canvas, based on beachcombing expeditions. Philip Maltman is an abstract artist shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize. Born in Ayrshire, a historic county on the coast of Scotland, he is known for exploring the littoral zone through his work - the area of shoreline where the sea meets the land.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this one for its versatile, abstract style that adds an understated yet sophisticated touch to various interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary and minimalist spaces, where its subtle colour palette can bring a calming influence. For practical styling, consider displaying it against neutral walls to let the artwork stand out or pairing it with natural textures like wood or linen for a cohesive look. It’s ideal for placing in living rooms, bedrooms, or even a home office where it can serve as a focal point without overwhelming the space. Keep framing simple to maintain its modern edge-it’s a great piece for adding character without clutter.

From Humble Requests to Global Homes

Soho Home's journey began from a simple love for their unique designs. The brand's inception was sparked by guests' desires to take a piece of Soho Houses with them, cherishing their favourite items from these comforting spaces.

This led to the birth of Soho Home in 2016 with their Barwell crystal glassware. Fast forward, the brand has expanded beyond just a few staples, encompassing a wide array of interior items ranging from furniture and tableware to home fragrances and textiles.

With over 30 Soho Houses across the globe, from vibrant Mumbai to trendy Austin and historic Berlin, the essence remains the same - offering a familiar, relaxed haven. Each House is meticulously designed, mirroring the unique flair of its surroundings.

Every location, with its distinct culture and history, serves as a muse for Soho Home's collections. This is evident in their specific pieces, like the elegant Manette bed found in Kettner's or the dazzling Juliana chandelier gracing the DUMBO House.
