Description
Animated sculpture… Danish studio Space Copenhagen delivers up a refined version of the traditional Japanese paper lantern. Light and dreamlike, The Unbound lamp explores the play of movement, shadow and light. It consists of two parts with contrasting aesthetics. Lightweight and ethereal, the slender white linen or beige canvas lampshade sits atop a heavy solid grey marble base that embodies anchorage and immobility. Thanks to a brass hinge, the lampshade swivels 360° on the base, like an inflated sail. The lampshade moves easily with your fingertips and can assume a position offset or perfectly aligned with the base. Lighting with a subtle balance between poetry, tradition and modernity. Discreetly shaped, halfway between Japanese paper lamps and sailor's lanterns, The Unbound lamp brings the shadow as close to the base as possible and diffuses a soft light.
