View More. Soozy Barker is a contemporary, abstract artist inspired by the patterns and colours of nature and the world around her. Initially trained by her Father, Jon Barker, (himself an internationally published artist), Soozy has developed a unique style and specialist techniques. Her painting process entails hours of pouring, splashing, blending and flicking, often using 20-30 brushes, metallic acrylics, oil paints, spray paints, gold and silver leaf, mixing and thinning mediums, and numerous other tools and materials. "I can spend hours without leaving the easel; the process becomes hypnotic. I can't leave a piece until I'm absolutely happy. The surface of the paint has to be as serene as the feeling the image gives the viewer. ".
This piece from Soozy Barker offers a subtle, textured aesthetic with a neutral palette accented by touches of yellow, making it versatile for various interiors. I love it because it adds visual interest without overwhelming the space, making it suitable for both modern and Scandinavian-inspired rooms. It works particularly well above sofas, dining areas, or in bedrooms where you want to introduce a calm, yet engaging focal point. Practical styling tips include pairing it with minimalist or neutral accessories to let the artwork stand out, and ensuring it’s hung at eye level for maximum impact. It’s a great choice if you’re looking to add depth and subtly warm tones to your scheme.
