View More. Soozy Barker is a contemporary, abstract artist inspired by the patterns and colours of nature and the world around her. Initially trained by her Father, Jon Barker, (himself an internationally published artist), Soozy has developed a unique style and specialist techniques. Her painting process entails hours of pouring, splashing, blending and flicking, often using 20-30 brushes, metallic acrylics, oil paints, spray paints, gold and silver leaf, mixing and thinning mediums, and numerous other tools and materials. "I can spend hours without leaving the easel; the process becomes hypnotic. I can't leave a piece until I'm absolutely happy. The surface of the paint has to be as serene as the feeling the image gives the viewer. ".
I really like the Sky Blue Swirl, especially its versatile colour palette and abstract design, which makes it a great statement piece in many interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary spaces, modern minimalism, or even in more classic settings where it can add a touch of artistic flair. When styling, consider pairing it with neutral or monochrome decor to let the artwork stand out, or use it as a focal point above a sofa or console table. Practical tips include pairing with sleek metallic accents or glass furniture to complement its abstract feel, and ensuring it’s hung at eye level for maximum impact. Its size makes it ideal for large walls, creating a balanced and sophisticated look without overwhelming the space.
