Description

The Harris Tweed Mackenzie Chair has a classic wing back design which is sure to add charm to any space.  Crafted from genuine Harris Tweed and quality produced hide to create a contrasting look, this piece has been expertly manufactured in the UK using traditional methods.  Comprising a high webbed back and feather filled seat cushions, youll sink into comfort with ease. Scrolled arms with hand studded features offer a classy detail that adds to the charm of the Mackenzie.  Its statement deep button back emphasizes the English heritage crafted into this piece and will add plenty of character to your living room.   Image shows Bracken Herringbone tweed fabric, Bromptan Tan hide, and polished hardwood legs.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Mackenzie wing chair for its smart combination of Harris Tweed and leather detailing - it brings just the right balance of country charm and tailored formality. The deep buttoning and studded trim give it real presence, so it works brilliantly as a statement piece in a study or tucked into a quiet reading corner. Styling tip: pair it with a slim-legged side table in dark wood or aged brass, and add a textured wool throw in a complementary shade to pick up the tweed’s subtle flecks. It sits equally well against paneled walls in a traditional scheme or alongside cleaner-lined sofas in a more contemporary living room, where its classic shape will add depth and character without feeling out of place.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
