The Tate chair collection was designed in 2012 to furnish the café in the Tate Modern Gallery in London. In keeping with Jasper Morrison's “super normal” design philosophy, the Tate chairs stand out for their modest appearance, classic shape and skilfully balanced proportions. They're composed of a beech plywood seat and a steel tubing base. They draw their charm from the successful interplay of subtly rounded contours and precisely drawn edges. Over the years, the Tate chair has become one of Cappellini's best-sellers. More than 20 years after the arrival of the original version, the Tate chair has been rejuvenated with new, colourful finishes. The stained beech boasts a stunning, on-trend colour palette.
