Description

Part of an exclusive collaboration between Tala and colour experts Farrow & Ball, The Muse is a distinctive portable light for your home. Recalling the promise and grandeur of the British pleasure garden, The Muse mixes the classic lantern aesthetic with ultra-modern technology and can be taken from alfresco dining to indoor reading. Plus, unlike most battery-powered portable lamps that end up in landfill once the LED or Lithium-ion cells degrade, The Muse has been constructed from premium materials that can be repaired or replaced over time, avoiding plastic at all costs. Tala's Dim-to-Warm LED technology and a custom integrated rotary dimmer allows you to control the light level of the included LED bulb Cordless long-life battery runs for up to 24 hours. It offers wireless and USB-C charging IP44 rating ensures its suitability for use outdoors Its robust construction includes: borosilicate glass, aluminium shell and solid brass hardware Candlenut is a classic off-white, named after the flowering Candlenut tree whose processed fruit was used as a sustainable lighting fuel alternative before electricity took over in the late 19th century. This chalky soft hue is both sophisticated and understated. Hackles is an otherworldly hue, referencing the rich black, and in some lights almost blue ruff of feathers at the base of a raven's neck. It's complexity only adds to its charm.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Tala the Muse lamp for its clean, modern design that effortlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s a versatile piece that works particularly well in minimalist or contemporary interiors, adding a touch of functional elegance. Practical styling tips include using it to brighten up a patio area or to serve as a decorative statement on a side table indoors. Its portability makes it an ideal choice for creating cosy, ambient lighting anywhere, and the simple colour palette ensures it complements a range of colour schemes without overpowering them. Whether placed on a terrace or an open-plan living space, this lamp offers both style and practicality.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
