I’m a big fan of the Taku table’s clean lines and muted grey finish - it slots straight into both modern and Scandinavian-inspired schemes without dominating the room. Its compact proportions suit small kitchens or open-plan living areas, and the sturdy timber frame stands up well to everyday use.
For styling, keep things simple: a slim linen runner or two-tone placemats to add texture, plus a low ceramic bowl of seasonal fruit or a single-stem vase. Mix in chairs of different shapes or materials - think a moulded plastic seat with a wooden frame, or a woven-seat stool - to give the set-up a casual, collected look.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
