Description

Designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1953 and crafted by Cassina, the Tabouret Berger Stool in a stained black oak finish embodies her belief that furniture is not simply a decorative element, but a functional and technical addition essential in any home. A smaller version of the Tabouret Méribel, this stool was presented for the first time in Tokyo during the 'Proposition d'une Synthese des Arts' exhibition in 1955.A modern take on the traditional milking stool, the design is influenced by local rustic architecture. The legs are cut with geometric angles and the stool is crafted from solid oak with a stained black finish. Born in Paris, architect and designer Charlotte Perriand is one of the most influential furniture designers of the early modern movement. Renowned for her discovery and use of new materials, Perriand worked closely alongside Le Corbusier throughout her illustrious career.

Our Stylist Says

I love this little black stool for its clean, modern design and versatility. It works well in both contemporary and pared-back interiors, offering a sleek statement piece or functional extra seating. Its stained black oak finish adds warmth and depth, making it easy to style with other wood accents or darker colour schemes. For practical tips, try using it as a side table in a lounge or bedroom, or as an occasional seat in a kitchen or hallway. It’s compact enough to fit into tight spaces, and its minimalist aesthetic ensures it complements rather than competes with other furniture. Pair it with textured cushions or throws for a touch of softness, or leave it plain for a streamlined look.
