Description

Designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1953 and crafted by Cassina, the Tabouret Berger Stool in an American walnut finish embodies her belief that furniture is not simply a decorative element, but a functional and technical addition essential in any home. A smaller version of the Tabouret Méribel, this stool was presented for the first time in Tokyo during the 'Proposition d'une Synthese des Arts' exhibition in 1955.A modern take on the traditional milking stool, the design is influenced by local rustic architecture. The legs are cut with geometric angles and the stool is crafted from solid American walnut with a beautiful grain. Born in Paris, architect and designer Charlotte Perriand is one of the most influential furniture designers of the early modern movement. Renowned for her discovery and use of new materials, Perriand worked closely alongside Le Corbusier throughout her illustrious career.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this stool because of its clean, minimalist silhouette and warm walnut finish, making it a versatile piece that adds natural texture to various interiors. It works particularly well in modern and Scandinavian-inspired spaces, where its understated design complements both soft and structured visuals. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a similarly toned wooden table for a cohesive look or using it as an occasional seat or footstool in a reading nook or living room. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces or as a functional accent piece, and you can also dress it up with a cosy cushion or a small tray for additional visual interest.
