To-Tie is the very first lamp created by young Milanese designer Guglielmo Poletti, who proudly describes himself as the defender of explicit design. And To-Tie couldn't make it any clearer: a special table lamp composed of a series of elements that have been reduced to the strict minimum, bound together solely by the mechanical tension. The result is a simple yet captivating design, developed around weaving, without having to use screws, glue or welding. The ingenious structures not only makes the lamp highly durable, but also means that the various elements can have multiple functions. The LED light source is incorporated into an aluminium bar which also acts as a handle, while the fabric electrical cable is not only the power supply, but also the key element connecting all of the pieces. The To-Tie collection features three different lamps, each with a size and proportions that are ideal for a specific environment. You can use the smallest model as a bedside lamp, and you can place the taller version on a console table, whilst the wider version will look perfect on a coffee table in your living room. Wherever they're positioned, the presence of the To-Tie lamps makes a statement thanks to their particular and unique composition. The white polycarbonate diffuser has been especially designed to avoid the effects of shadow and to avoid dazzling. The black fabric cable has a dimmer to adjust the light flow from 10% to 100%. No glue is used to assemble the various parts of the lamp. All of the components can be separated, replaced individually and recycled separately. The creative process of designer Guglielmo Poletti is based on his concept of "to think by doing" and his in-depth research on structural tension and materials, which he uses to find inspiration. The freedom of creation and unique expertise that Flos offers designers mean that it has been able to translate its experimental approach and technical prowess into an industrial lighting solution. This first lamp for Flos embodies the spirit of the Castiglioni brothers and their ingenious, ready-to-use creations. In other terms, it's a lamp in pure Flos style.
