An eco-friendly sculpture lamp made from recycled material With this new lighting item, Italian designer Ferruccio Laviani continues his research on the structures that can be produced in plastic and highlights moulding technology applied to lighting, 20 years after the success of his best-selling Take lamp. Ferruccio Laviani: “Tea is closer to a small table sculpture than a conventional lamp, and I hope that seeing it will bring pleasure to whoever chooses it as a table companion”. Tea is an abstract sign, an object with an almost artisanal character that seems to represent two hands enclosing the light in their palms to let it escape through the irregular textures that define it in a game of chiaroscuro, like shadows projected onto the wall. The Tea lamp is made of recycled thermoplastic technopolymer. Its finish, with its irregular, porous touch, is highly innovative and extremely natural. Similar to terracotta and biscuit, it is available in a palette of basic colours to highlight that even manufacturing from recycled materials can bring life to poetic objects of high quality. The recycled thermoplastic polymer comes from pure, uncontaminated resources from different sectors, for example furniture, automotive, household appliances and packaging. This material retains aesthetic quality and structural requirements. Unused industrial materials are given a second life thanks to this project.
