Description

Simple lines and a sleek design define the Olsen, a quintessentially mid-century design that welcomes you to take a seat with its cocooning shape. A beautiful addition to your dining table or perched in the corner of any room. Made with solid wood and handcrafted one at a time, there may be natural variations in colour and texture that are not product flaws, they make your design truly one-of-a-kind. Please ensure you check measurements and the chair fits underneath your table/desk with enough leg room as well as between the legs of any table. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Olsen chair for its clean lines, sturdy acacia frame and gently curved back-it’s a versatile staple rather than a statement piece. Its warm wood tone sits equally well in Scandi-inspired, mid-century or contemporary schemes and pairs nicely with both lighter marble-top tables and darker industrial styles. For a practical touch, add a slim seat pad or a small lumbar cushion in a complementary hue (think muted greens or petrol blues) to soften the look and make longer dinners more comfortable. Keep the rest of the table setting minimal - perhaps a simple woven runner or a single vase - so the chair’s silhouette remains the focus.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
