I’d call this the Swindon shelf, and what I like most is its mix of oak-effect panels and slim black frame - it feels both light and structured. It works equally well in a Scandi-inspired living room, a pared-back home office or as a dividing unit in a loft-style flat.
Styling tip: balance open and closed cubbies by pairing a couple of books and a small plant in one compartment, then tuck away clutter behind the drawers. Vary heights - stack magazines under a ceramic vase, hang a little framed print against the back of an open cube - and leave a couple of sections empty to keep the overall look breathing space.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
