Accent your interior with this true hero of mid-century design: the instantly recognisable Swan Sofa by Arne Jacobsen, upholstered in walnut Grace Leather and crafted to exacting standards by Scandinavian furniture specialists, Fritz Hansen. Originally designed in 1958 for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel Copenhagen, the Swan Sofa's fluid curves offered a sculptural contrast to the building's straight-edges and vertical lines. The Swan Sofa was crafted using entirely new techniques for the time, with Jacobsen being the first to utilise a strong foam inner shell underneath the chair's upholstery. Using a unique process, Jacobsen tested and prototyped the shape and form of the Swan Sofa using clay in his home studio. This edition of the Swan Sofa is upholstered in Sorensen's walnut Grace Leather, a firm yet flexible aniline variety crafted from the finest European rawhide from Alpine cattle, with visible, natural markings that only get better with age. Beautifully soft and smooth, Grace Leather serves as the perfect enhancement to the curves of the iconic Swan Sofa.
