I’m a fan of this black sleigh bed for its clean, sculptural lines and deep upholstery - it brings instant presence without feeling fussy. Its classic scroll head and foot work equally well in a contemporary loft or a more traditional scheme, especially when paired with light walls or pale wood floors to stop the room feeling too heavy. For styling, anchor it with a large, low-pile rug that’s at least two-thirds the width of the frame, then layer neutral linen bedding with one or two accent cushions in contrasting textures (think boucle or mohair). Keep bedside tables simple - metal or glass to balance the velvet - and add a pair of sleek lamps or wall lights to highlight the headboard. A potted plant or two will introduce life and soften the overall look.

Humble Beginnings
In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
A Visionary Leader
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
