The Sultani 48421 runner has been woven and made by the Hazara tribe based in central and Northern Afghanistan in the Bamyan and Kabul provinces. This runner has been beautifully crafted with Afghan Ghazni wool which has been hand spun using natural vegetable dyes such as walnut, pomegranate, root plants and saffron. Once dyed and hand knotted onto a cotton warp base in Afghanistan this runner has been transported over to Pakistan where it has been expertly finished, including washing and trimming. This runner is a truly unique and totally individual hand-knotted rug, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. The striking traditional design makes it the perfect new addition to add to the vintage home, and would fit perfectly in the hallway, bedroom and living room areas, wherever you want to make a statement and add a cultural feel.
I love this runner rug for its vibrant blue hue and traditional wool construction, which adds warmth and character to any space. It works particularly well in hallways or alongside a sofa, where it can anchor a seating area or create a welcoming pathway. Its design lends itself to both classic and eclectic interiors, adding colour without overwhelming the decor. Practical styling tips include pairing with neutral furnishings to make the pattern stand out, or layering over a larger rug for added texture. Keep it well-placed and protected from heavy dirt or moisture to maintain its look and longevity.
