Description
Handicraft in a new context. Handcrafted in Colombia, the Subas rug combines the art of knotting and hand-weaving on a single surface, offering various textures and patterns: relief, check, stripe effects. This rug is made with 100% natural sheep’s wool. The master weaver who heads the team from the small workshop in the Suba district (a region of Bogota in Colombia) comes from the Boyaca province. For generations, this family has used sheep's wool and combined different techniques on a single manual loom, thereby perpetuating traditional ancestral know-how. The nuances of the wool’s colours offer rich, natural patterns. Created by the German designer Sebastian Herkner, the Subas rug combines handcrafted techniques and contemporary geometric shapes for an effect that’s both authentic and modern. The Cabuya rug is part of the Sala project, born from a journey to Colombia by designer Sebastian Herkner. Concerned with bringing originality and authenticity to his creations, he met local craftspeople who have managed to preserve and pass on real expertise and traditional production methods over the centuries. With each rug being unique, there may be slight variations in size and colour.
