Description

Design. As at home amongst the urban metalwork and raw brick of industrial interiors as it is in classic mid-century decors, the Brockwell Dining Chair’s faux leather seat is beautifully finished with linear stitched detail for a classic look that attractively contrasts with the contemporary vibes of its splayed metal base. A choice that would look fantastic as a set or in an eclectic ensemble of mismatched dining chairs, the Brockwell’s unusual handle accent is ideal for a modern touch, as well as offering easy portability around the home.

Our Stylist Says

This chair's striped leather design in rich brown makes it a versatile yet statement piece that works well in both modern and classic dining spaces. Its clean lines and subtle detailing lend it a sophisticated edge, while the leather finish adds durability and ease of maintenance. I love pairing this with neutral-toned tables and layered textiles to create a warm, inviting dining area. For styling tips, consider mixing with other textured elements like wood or metal to add visual interest, or pairing it with a colourful runner to break up the monochrome look. Its sleek profile also allows it to double up nicely as an accent chair in a living room or home office.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
