Description

Design. Storage solution with a rustic edge. Inspired by the coast line, this simplistic piece breathes life into any bedroom and will look great in a range of interior schemes. Finished in an ecru painted body and washed oak top, the blend of natural materials and coloured wood creates a subtle beachy feel, while remaining modern and timeless. Each drawer provides and abundance of storage for personal belongings, with each fitted onto wooden runners for a sturdy slide. Small rounded silver handles to the face of each drawer makes for easy opening and closing. Pair with another item from the Staithes range for a coordinated look in your bedroom.

Our Stylist Says

This piece is a versatile addition to any interior, thanks to its neutral oak finish and classic design. I love how the mix of smaller and larger drawers offers practical storage, making it ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, or even hallways. It works particularly well in coastal or Scandinavian-inspired schemes, where light, natural woods and understated details are key. For styling tips, consider pairing it with soft greys, muted pastels, or crisp whites to highlight its subtle wood tone. Adding simple antique or glass knobs can also enhance its charm, while keeping the overall look fresh and timeless.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
