TIPTOE has joined forces with Archives Yves Klein to create an exclusive collection of limited-edition pieces. The pieces are stamped and screen-printed in Klein Blue. This collaboration celebrates the 95th birthday of French artist Yves Klein. A major artist of the 20th Century, Yves Klein has made his mark on history with a material-colour that has become legendary: An ultramarine blue of incomparable intensity which is, according to the artist, "the most perfect expression of blue" and which he uses as a vehicle for his quest for infinity and immateriality. This inventions, which he named "IKB" (International Klein Blue) characterises many of his pieces, including his monochrome work. To showcase this legendary blue, TIPTOE has spent many months working tirelessly to formulate a colour that does justice to the intensity of Yves Klein's blue, which required countless tests in order to get just the right formulation. The SSD Chair is Simple, Strong and Durable. It is 100% made in Europe with strong, hard-wearing materials. The SSD chair was born from an ambition both simple and committed: To design an ideal chair for everyday living while minimising the environmental impact at each stage of its life cycle. The structure of the SSD chair is made of steel: highly robust, steel is the most recycled material in the world. 100% of the wood used for the seat and backrest comes from sustainably managed European forests (PEFC wood). The SSD chair uses just 1% plastic, and it’s recycled. The packaging is made of 80% recycled paper. The chair comes disassembled in flat packaging, which limits its carbon footprint during transport. The SSD Chair can be easily assembled in 2 minutes, without tools, with a single screw, provided. The SSD chair is made up of just 5 elements, easy to dismantle and therefore to recycle in decades to come. After 2 years of passionate work, the Tip Toe design house launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce the SSD chair. 600 contributors, 1500 pre-ordered chairs: that's how the fantastic adventure of the SSD chair began.
