Our Stylist Says
I love this navy velvet sofa for its modern elegance and versatility. Its rich, dark hue works beautifully in contemporary spaces, adding depth without overpowering the room. The metal legs offer a sleek, minimalist look that pairs well with other metallic accents or neutral tones, making it a flexible choice for both cosy living rooms and more open, airy interiors. Practical styling tips would include pairing it with textured cushions in lighter or contrasting colours to add visual interest, and placing it against a light-coloured wall to maximise its sophisticated appeal. It’s an excellent statement piece that combines comfort with a sharply tailored aesthetic.

The Birth of Habitat
In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.
The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.
Rapid Expansion & Legacy
Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.
The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.
Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.
Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
Innovation & Collaboration
Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.
Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
