During the Second World War, due to the shortage of metal at the time, Jean Prouvé devoted himself more and more to working in wood. Designed in 1941, the Solvay stool bears the inimitable signature of the French designer and engineer: its clear building principles are characteristic of the work of Jean Prouvé. Very solid, it consists of a thick solid wooden seat resting on three legs made of the same wood. These elements are interconnected by sturdy joining elements made of bent sheet steel.
