Description

Hand crafted in Italy, the Smithfield grey luxury leather wingback armchair has a sculptural silhouette with soft, feather-filled seat cushion for comfort. An addition to the iconic Smithfield range, Aaron Probyn's fresh, fluid take on a classic design has a metal frame for strength with rounded arms and a high back that hugs the body. Exclusive to Habitat and handmade using age-old techniques, the Smithfield wingback is available in leather and fabric in a choice of colours and comes with a suede scatter cushion for textural contrast.

Our Stylist Says

I love the contemporary sophistication the dark grey leather wingback armchair brings to a space. Its bold yet refined silhouette makes it a versatile choice, working well in both modern and traditional interiors. It pairs beautifully with natural wood accents, like a oak or walnut side table, and can be styled with textured throws or cushions for added comfort. Practical styling tips include placing it in a cosy corner with a floor lamp or near a statement rug to anchor the space. This piece is also a good investment for creating a rich, layered look, especially in a monochrome or neutral palette where it can truly stand out.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
