A blooming and ultra-productive trio, the designers from the high-end Lausanne studio have been colouring our daily lives with optimism for over a decade, through their joyful objects with sleek lines. Simplicity, functionality and optimist are the key features of all of their creations. For their collaboration with the Belgian creative house, the big-game designers set out with the following idea: "There is already so much noise and information in this world, we need silent objects. " Driven by rationale and the formal simplicity of the Swiss culture, the Silent chair is a tool-piece, an object embodying purity. Its perfectly functional look and strictly formal humbleness create an impression of aesthetic neutrality, which continues to withstand the tests of time. The design of Silent is a potential equivalent for modernist Swiss fonts. In the Silence chair, everything is minimised: each screw or technical element has been meticulously concealed to create an eye line which is as clear as possible, creating a calm visual. To design Silent, the designers found inspiration in an archetypal church chair: an extremely straight-up design in robust ash wood, with few diagonals. In other terms, a "completely silent" chair. To provide modern comfort, slight curves are worked into the backrest and seat of the chair. Evoking an instant sense of familiarity, the archetypal shape has been subtly modernised by comfortable curves and a fresh, inviting colour palette. The Silent chair plays the modern minimalism card, yet with an explosion of colour. The armchair version has particularly short armrests which are forward-pointing.
