Description

Finn Juhl, the master of Danish Modern, originally designed this iconic Sideboard in blue and white hues in 1955.Inspired by the work of his American colleagues, in particular Charles and Ray Eames, this Sideboard marks the start of Finn Juhl's experimentation with steel. With a veneered walnut corpus and black steel legs finished with matching walnut feet, the sideboard is truly a combination of Finn Juhl's old and new styles. An injection of colour in the form of two sliding doors, painted in cool blue hues from Goethe's colour wheel, highlights the influence of Finn Juhl's contemporaries on his work. The first Danish furniture designer to achieve international recognition, Finn Juhl is seen by many as the master of Danish Modern. A self-taught designer, he originally studied to become an architect but worked with the mindset of a sculptor when creating his designs. Rather than thinking in terms of practicality, Finn Juhl broke free from the constraints of conventional working methods to create truly innovative designs.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sideboard for its sleek combination of walnut and bold blue-a real statement piece that can anchor a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary or minimalistic spaces, where the pop of colour can add personality without overwhelming. To style it practically, consider pairing it with understated tableware or decorative accents in natural or metallic finishes to enhance its modern look. It’s also versatile enough to work in dining rooms, living areas, or even as a stylish storage solution in an entrance hall. Keep the top surface decluttered with a few curated items like vases or books - this keeps the eye moving and maintains its striking visual appeal.
