Finn Juhl, the master of Danish Modern, originally designed this iconic Sideboard in blue and white hues in 1955.Inspired by the work of his American colleagues, in particular Charles and Ray Eames, this Sideboard marks the start of Finn Juhl's experimentation with steel. With a veneered walnut corpus and black steel legs finished with matching walnut feet, the sideboard is truly a combination of Finn Juhl's old and new styles. An injection of colour in the form of two sliding doors, painted in cool blue hues from Goethe's colour wheel, highlights the influence of Finn Juhl's contemporaries on his work. The first Danish furniture designer to achieve international recognition, Finn Juhl is seen by many as the master of Danish Modern. A self-taught designer, he originally studied to become an architect but worked with the mindset of a sculptor when creating his designs. Rather than thinking in terms of practicality, Finn Juhl broke free from the constraints of conventional working methods to create truly innovative designs.
