Artist Sian Mc Gill captures the light on the Gower Peninsula in southwest Wales in this coastal work. Made in the UK, it has a grey wood-effect frame and is ready to hang on your wall. Protecting the image, it's glazed with lightweight plastic, a less fragile material compared to glass but equally as transparent. Sian Mc Gill was born on St David's Day 1973 in Pontypool, South Wales. After gaining a degree in English at Swansea University, she returned to a childhood love of art, pursuing this alongside bringing up her young family. Painting soon became a passion and has now become a full-time occupation. She regularly exhibits at galleries in Wales and Cornwall, and has had work selected for the Royal Cambrian Academy. Much of her inspiration comes directly from the places where she loves to spend time, outdoors enjoying the coastline and mountains of Wales. The paintings are a response to the landscape, an attempt to capture something of the experience and the energy of a place- how it feels to be there on that day. An expressive and intuitive painter, she works mostly with a palette knife but also paints with brushes or fingers or whatever else comes to hand to get the desired effect. She enjoys experimenting with mark-making, colour and texture to create a variety of effects. This often leads to a degree of unpredictability, allowing the paintings to emerge almost by themselves. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I love this Gower Light print - it’s a versatile piece that brings a fresh, calming vibe to many interiors. The bold blue and multi-tone palette makes it perfect for contemporary spaces, especially in living rooms or bedrooms where a splash of colour can add vibrancy. It's also a great option for coastal or nature-inspired schemes, pairing well with whites, greys, or natural textures like wicker and linen. Practical styling tips include framing it with a simple, clean-lined border or hanging it above a neutral sofa to let the artwork make the statement. Layering with smaller prints or accessories in similar colours can help tie the look together, creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.
